Sherman Austin, anarchist webmaster, was sentenced on August 4, 2003, to one year in federal prison with three years of strict probation. Austin was sentenced to this despite entering a plea bargin with the prosecution who had asked that Austin be sentenced to 4 months in prison.

Sherman entered a plea with the prosecution after being threatened with 20 years in prison by authorities -- and after a string of police and FBI attacks, thefts and violent arrests.

Sherman is the 20-year-old webmaster of the popular anarchist website www.raisethefist.com. Authorities arrested Sherman claiming he had information on the site related to bomb making.

Sherman countered that this information was not illegal, only promoting its use was AND that many other websites including Amazon.com and numerous white power sites display much more bomb-making information. The authorities then threatened to use vague Patriot Act statues to incarcerate Austin for 20 years -- even though Austin broke no regular or current law.
